I'm aware of that history. From this perspective, though, we know that JFK was determinedly circumspect to NOT lead with this faith. The conservative Catholic justices on the SCOTUS show no such restraint.

Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett are all conservative Catholics. ACB was even a highly placed member of a Catholic group in which her literal title was "handmaid." And, those six justices' decisions break with science as well as historical fact and precedent. Many of their decisions dramatically and overtly reflect conservative US Catholicism.

JFK did his level best to NOT be a "Catholic POTUS." The six conservative justices of the SCOTUS have determinedly entrenched the court in their conservative Catholicism. That conservative US Catholicism is actually in conflict with the majority of US fellow Catholics.
