I'm sorry. That source is incorrect. There is much evidence of paleolithic peoples warring against each other. There's also much evidence that, even in what appears to be matriarchal societies, men still possessed women. Just because women owned the property, doesn't mean men didn't control the women – it meant men fought to control the women so they could control the land.
Sadly, women as a group have almost never been the power-holders. The best they've ever achieved is power to empower men. While there may have been matriarchal enclaves or communities, there have never been whole truly matriarchal societies.
