I'm sorry. I was not part of that sweep either. However, I understand their sentiments. I also think they deserve some kind of clear statement of vindication as well as remuneration. We are not slaves to Medium to then just be thankful to get back to grinding out our labors for them when granted a reprieve from an unjust death sentence.
What happened to them was an injustice. Yes, injustice happens. But, when it happens, it should be called out, corrected, and compensated for.
You're basically telling them "shit happens" and "just suck it up." That's not kind. And, in the 21st Century, we have not only the right, but the duty to identify and change injustices — not for ourselves, but for all those still to come.
This debacle was traumatic for those writers. You cannot have positivity about moving forward until you address and heal from trauma. They have a right to share their feelings and frustrations, to work through the experience. How else to they express their experience without sharing those feelings and frustrations. Would you tell them to stifle their feelings, to shove them down and let them fester?
