I'm sorry my poem made you feel bad. But, I think we are seeing that there is hope. Watching the MAGAs still clinging to Trumpists' lies, willing to die on a mountain of lies, is a dark place without hope. But, as you say, there is a sliver of hope… it feels like there's a shift back toward a shared foundation of truth. It feels like they're beginning to see the folly of their choice – that their leadership's grasping for rule over us is not any kind of utopia they envisioned.

I genuinely believe most of the MAGAs didn't grasp the ugliness they were embracing. They thought they were white-identity hero saviors-of-god. Instead, they've found themselves shunned, pushed into the company of people they cannot like, people whose cruelty is stark… people who are destroyers of freedom, of hope in pursuit of some truly vile agendas against their fellow humanity – in opposition the God who is love. And, MAGAs have found themselves led by people whose criminality is blatant and shocking.

And now, I think they're seeing how it's hurting them personally – especially with the overturn of Roe and all the 4th Amendment rights that ruling threatens. Pew Research and FiveThirtyEight have reported the biggest surge for decades in women and young people registering to vote. Both organizations are forecasting the largest youth turnout on record – and that's for a midterm!

In my 18-year old's circle, I see that they are angry. They're angry and they realize they outnumber every other demographic. I hope they're as motivated as their talk indicates. I hope they really do turn up to vote. FiveThirtyEight is forcasting that democrats will win a super majority in the Senate, and that the GOP is losing ground in the House races.
