In America, everyone from Iran are reduced to all "Iranians" – if they're lucky. Most Americans have no concept of differing ethnic heritages. Many will just reduce it to "Ā-răbs" for everyone from the Middle East. Or, if they're being particularly bigoted, they'll trot out the "towel heads" pejorative; or, they'll fling "sand n-word" at them for the really hateful pejorative; my half-Persian son has been called that on several occaisions, inlcuding by a couple of white moms when he was just two years old playing in the play area at the mall.
