In middle school, my son was profiled on the regular by the principal and the school cop. With the principal sitting right there, agreeing with him, that fecking cop actually told me to my face that because of "his background" he was a risk for violence — "his background" of being Persian.

That cop is no longer employed with the county. My now adult son, told me he learned in high school that a parental letter saw him off. Gray believes it was my letter. I'd love to think that is true. While it probably contributed, I cannot imagine it was the sole reason. Still, I'm so glad my son believes that and knows I had his back.

That principal was reassigned too.
