Interesting. That was my grandfather's life-long habit. He said he got into the habit when growing up while working in the fields; he didn't want to sit on the bare ground for breaks as was common, so he squatted. He also said it saved his life several times during the Korean war because it made him quicker to respond from resting to action. He never had high blood pressure or adult diabetes or cholesterol issues; and, he at a traditional Southern diet all his life. He was 87 years old when he passed and he never had any cardiovascular disease, though most of the rest of the men in his family did.
