Is it though? It's a lovely idea. But, it's predicated on the intent embedded in those perspectives. Saying all perspectives are valid presumes with blazing inaccuracy that the other person's perspective won't be that you don't have the right to a perspective – or worse.

For example, is okay to have a perspective that girls and women shouldn't be allowed bodily autonomy, so the state must force control upon my body?

Is it okay to hold a perspective that dictates your specific denomination dogma is the only religion and that religion should hold dominion over the world?

Then, there is the perspective of white identity in the States that casts Black and indigenous Americans and all people of color as inferior, criminal, immoral, etc. Is that an okay perspective?

There are perspectives on gun ownership that has people stockpiling assault style weapons and ammunition, DEREGULATING even the most minimal gun control, strapping bulletproof backpacks on kids, and blaming side-entries in response to our children being slaughtered in schools. Next, they'll be clothing kids in kevlar hoodies because heaven forfend Americans gain the perspective to do any damn thing at all about the guns!

I'm all for open-minded and empathetic perspectives. But, let us not be so open-minded that we fall under power of the illusion makers, like FoxNews and Trump. Let us not be so open-minded that we only watch the onslaught of horrors like those American children face on the regular – and find ourselves powerless to do anything about it.
