It is worrying how absorbed in screens kids are. It's more worrying that the very things that might mitigate it are being eliminated from their education. When I was in junior high school (which we call "middle school now") and in senior high school, we took field trips to art museums.
My son took an elementary school trip to a natural history museum. So, they still did that back in the late 2000s to early 2010s. But, he never took a trip with his middle school or high school to art museum.
They also didn't have regular art classes when he was in school, not even elementary school. Twice a month, the art teacher would come to their rooms and they'd make projects. But, there was no study of form, no drawing, no true problem solving kinds of creation.
