There are currently too many risks with holding a checking account at a neobank: because neobanks are not reputable enough, conforming enough, and experienced enough, they don’t give enough priority to improving customer support, and they are likely to freeze funds and account or/and request proofs of funds.

It sounds like they are an idea yet to be fully realized. I think brick and mortar banks will figure out the digital banking thing really soon and make neobanks even more undesirable.
