Let’s first explore what the Founding Fathers meant when this revered amendment was written. Think about the times. It was the late 1700s. The primary guns in use were muskets, which were time-consuming to reload and relatively inaccurate as compared to today’s firearms. Would the amendment have been written differently or exist at all if this technology had existed in 1791 when it was written? We will never know.
