It was clear to her because she trusts her husband and he told her what the woman did from his perspective. And, these things become so endemic that you soon recognize the signs. It happened to me with white men hitting on me with lines similar to "come back to a white man." All too often, these racists will not acknowledge the legitimacy of an interracial marriage. I swear, sometimes it seemed like certain white folks tought my husband held me hostage or something.

Those of us in mixed-marriages recognize her experience in our own. It's all too common an attitude from died-in-the-wool racists. This is part of the dichotomy in a life long mix-race relationship. It's equally part of the dichotomy that those on the outside of the experience discount it and dismiss it.

Also, I would point out that she never said the woman told her husband it was because his wife is Black. She said the woman was racist and that the woman tried to seduce her husband. Then, she related her experience with other racist white women who think they can have any man they set their sights upon. Racist or not, we all know men and women who think they are the most desirable beings on two legs. Men and women who think all they have to do is crook their finger at someone to have them falling to their presumed charms.
