It's a device-centric feature. On your cellphone, you can highlight titles and subtitles in the Medium app. Once someone does that on their phones, that text also appears highlighted in the desktop versions. However, you cannot highlight titles and subtitles in the desktop version of the app.

Unless it's a Mac thing? My cellphone is an Android device and my desktop is an iMac.
