It's a mature and reasoned decision. Maybe we'd be better off if more people made the same decision. As a parent, I've seen a lot of other parents who seem to have no time or resent time for their children. I think you're right and that it's not fair to the children; I believe they sense such parental resentment – they for damn sure are aware when a parent has no time for them.

I always say, your kids will forget all the little things, the times you carted them to school, to events, sports, etc. They won't remember all the breakfasts and dinners, the playtimes, the just hanging out, family times. All of that just becomes a blur of life. But, they will never forget when a parent chooses to NOT be there. Kids will never forget neglect – and I'm not sure they ever get over it. Such parents maybe should never have been parents.
