It's not "manufactured outrage" because it's constantly being perpetrated upon not-white skin. Our cultural pejorative flung around so carelessly are almost entirely either racist or sexist. From the racist terms laid out here to the sexist terms – like bitch, cunt, pussy, dick, ballsy, slag, slut, frigid, etc – the language needs to change. More sensitivityis required both to the origins of the terms and to impacts for those who know the context and original intent as well as modern intent.

People should mean more than clinging to colorful language just because you think the meaning of such terms has evovled.

You know, they make the same kinds of arguments about flying the Confederate flag and other so-claimed "formerly" racist symbols like the swastika.

And, before you make the historical argument that the swastika began its life as an affirmative sun symbol, don't even. Once a symbol or phrase is blackened by hate, it simply cannot be recovered.
