This isn't just in evangelical churches, though I saw all of it growing up in fundamentalist circles.

However, I've been a member of a UMC since 2008; I regularly attended Sunday School and sermons prior to 2018; I participated in most of the child oriented programs when my son was you; and I helped in other ways I was able. I've been feeling rather hurt since 2018, when I became mostly homebound – and not one member of my church has been to see me or called me on the phone. One person in the office sent me a card after I was in the hospital. But, while my son continued being active in youth group for three more years until he aged out, not one member of my church had "boo" to say.
