I've had a few medical or fall crises in the recent past. Because most of my days are spent alone, I finally gave in and accepted a smartphone. It's also why I carry my phone in a small canvas cross-body bag as well after a fall in the yard when I needed the phone but hadn't taken it with me because I wanted my hands free for my DSLR camera and my cane.

However, I'm kind of rigid with my use. I refuse to be constantly on the phone. And, I even turn off notifications entirely at 9pm every night. No phones or devices period are allowed in the bedroom. I don't worry about the medical issues because Hamid is right there with me at night.

When my little family is together, I'm fairly strict about everyone putting the phones down. I've always had the rule: No devices at the table.

The most thing I use my phone for these days is video calling with Gray. We video call almost every single day… sometimes twice a day. It's lovely.
