I've heard that demon-possession line about epilepsy (and mental illness in general) spouted often when I was growing up. It's so infuriating to see it taking main stream thought again – even if it is only rightwing evangelicals. Sadly, they're pushing politicians who think the same way; just look at Herschel Walker, who thinks diabetics don't need insulin if they just eat right and exercise – or Rand Paul, the sitting senator who thinks him being an eye doctor qualifies him more on covid than the world reknowned, dripping in awards and honors, immunologist whose spent a lifetime researching, treating, and curing infectious disease.
