Minority cultural cuisine of immigrants has always been vilified by bigots from the safety of the dominate majority culture in America, going back at least to the 19th Century with the Irish immigrants driven by the Potato Famine. The "other's" eating or drinking habits are used to paint them in their entirety as disgusting and degraded.

Sadly, those Irish immigrants did not ally themselves with marginalized Black, brown, and Asian people. Instead, they used their own whiteness against those groups, to gain access to the majority.
