Mother taught for around 15 years. She was a rehab teacher, teaching kids with learning disabilities. I feel very sorry and rather guilty about all those rehab kids she was in charge of. It's especially bad because I know her mind on most rehab issues. And, most of her students were Black.

For example, she repeated told me that my son, who is on the Spectrum (ADHD and mild to high functioning Asperger's), just needed "a good spanking" and to be made to just sit still "even if you have to tie him to the seat."

Another example that predates her years as a teacher: Our Dawny, my sister, was Dyslexic. She wasn't diagnosed until an adult. But, Mother used to punish her for getting her letters and spelling wrong. Mother told her "you're just not trying."

I shudder when I think of her with a whole class of kids like our Gray.
