My grandparents were my rescue. Every summer I was able to spend with them kept me from going down a sad path. They kept me sane and helped me hold it together. And, my friend, the sister of my heart, took my hand and wouldn't let me be left behind. She showed me how to become the person my husband loves, how to overcome the trauma of my fundamentalist evangelical upbringing.
