I know what its like growing up to reject all that crap. My parents were racist and homophobic – and supported their bigotries on the grounds of their religion. My three sisters grew up racists. One of them is homophobic. My deceased sister would have told you she struggled with it but thought gay people should be left alone to live their lives. The other sister is leery, but not overtly homophobic – her attitude is let them live their lives, but don't come around her with it.

In their eyes. I'm apostate because I married a not-white-enough Middle Easterner, support BLM, defend and welcome immigrants and migrants, and reject all anti-LGBTQ crap. Oh, and because I'm a Methodist instead of a fundamentalist evangelical. And, I don't believe in the forever-torment-fiery-hell of Dante's diseased imaginings.
