My problem is that Hamid is likely to grab whatever is to hand — invariably my notebooks — and scrawl numbers and phrases of Farsi in margins and corners, up, down, and sideways. If he uses a clean page, he'll tear it out! So, I only have the journal next to my keyboard on my studio desk. It's dedicated to poetry and he respects that enough to not scribble in it.
