My son is doing something similar for a company out Canada while he's in therapy for his PTSD from working as an EMT during the covid years. He still hopes to get back to school to become a paramedic, and possible go on to ER medicine.
Don't tell him, I think I'd rather he stay in peripheral support like he's in now. The stories he's told… Being out there on those streets is terrifying to me. Plus, he's on course to earn three time what he earned as an EMT.
But, I cannot say that to him — naturally. He loves the work. He needs to pursue what makes him happy and fulfilled. And, I need to be on his side, advocating for what he wants.
