…y favorite writer by a mile. Still, I was so self-absorbed with “tales for boys” that I didn’t read Matilda until I was in college. When I was 10 and I saw that the main character was a girl, I lost interest. Today, that’s mind blowing to me, but I’m not going to deny that’s where my brain was at.

My son loved that book and was excited to see the movie when it came out. He was so happy there was a movie about the book that it was one of the few movies we plonked down the price of tickets to see in the theater.
