North Carolina is in a bad place under MAGA threats right now. Sure… that crap is what makes the news. But, it's not North Carolina. And, Robinson numbers among the worst of humanity. There's so much more to NC than him and people like him. They are the outliers, I promise you.

We have given the world heroes like Roundtree, Pauli Murray and Golden Frinks who were key figures in the Civil Rights Movement. Bishop Dr. William Barber II continues to fight the good fight. Jim Hunt, NC's "education governor" made great strides uplifting people in the state. Our current governor, Roy Cooper, is no less dedicated to lifting people up. The same is true for Robinson's gubenatorial opponent, Josh Stein.

NC gave you O'Henry, Alex Haley, Langston Hughes, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Nicholas Sparks, Thomas Wolfe, Edward R. Murrow, Maya Angelou, and more. We gave the world Felonious Monk, Andy Griffith, Roberta Flack, James Taylor, Tori Amos, Ronnie Milsap, Minnie Evans, John Coltrane, Moms Mabely, Michael Jordan, and so many more. There's Gertrude Weil, Jaki Shelton Greene, Loretta Lynch, Ella Josephine Baker, Shirley Ceasar, Pam Grier, Sandra Kay Yow… the list goes on and on.

According the US Dept of Energy, the environmental justice movement began in NC, in Warren County in 1982 in a Black farming community. Plus, Raleigh was the birthplace of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, and integral group in the advancement of the Civil Rights Movement.
