Not only does the passage specifically address idolotrous practices, there is phililogical and etymological scholarship indicating the clobber part may have been added or altred in meaning during a later etymological era than the originating text. Similar scholarship indicates all the clobber passages were altered later as the texts were handed down, and/or were mistranslated from the Hebrew. The likely mistranslated texts have been altered again and again in English translations, particularly English translations intended to simplify meanings.
