Of course they never believed it. They knew what they were doing when they were lobbying for all those tax cuts for the wealthy. They wanted to keep more of the wealth generated by our labors. The tax rates before Reagan made them invest more in their companies, in their employees, in local infrastructure, and in charities and the arts.

There's a reason the Robber Barons of old never got to be billionaires in their lifetimes.
