Oh, this is powerful. I know it's now the theme of this poem. But, your imagery inspired a piece of a poem I am now developing:

The world burns

burying the forsaken

Ash falls on martyrs' graves

Martyrs doomed by unselfish love

The bravest hearts stilled

by darkness of proud destroyers

naming themselves, "American Patriots"
