Oi! I did wonder what that was intended to mean.

In our house when I was growing up, my father was determined to eliminate nicknames. He was so determined that he insisted my sister "Deloris" must be "Deloris Dee" so that if anyone called her the common nickname of that time, they'd be calling her by her middle name. Too bad she was called "Lori" in high school.

He also absolutely hated that we called "Dawn Dell" by "Dawny."

In college, it drove him nuts that everyone called me "Denni," per my request. LOL

I did worry about what nickname my son would be stuck with as "Graham" – but we instigated with "Gray" and it stuck.
