One of my sisters went through that when she had to quit nursing to go back on medication she needed. She spent months beating herself up about not being able to nurse. It was horrible and if I'd been in the same state as her, I'd been in someone's face about it all!

I didn't even know she'd been going through that. She had her baby six months before I had mine. She called to ask how things were going after the difficult end of my pregnancy. In the course of my gushing over motherhood, I told her the thing I loved most was nursing. She started sobbing. I still feel horrible for not knowing she was struggling and for saying something that caused her pain.
