Polls are crap shoot. They really only tell the state of the particular group of people polled. I believe this is the poll The View discussed and it was only 1500 people surveyed.
If the 1500 were all in the same room together, then they might be a fair sampling of the community in which the survey was taken. If they are from across a single state, the might – that's a big "might" – reflect something interesting in that state. If they're from all across the country, then they only reflect those individuals becuase it's not a fair sampling.
Remember, all the polls said Hillary was a shoe-in.
All the polls expected Trump to stay in office.
For the midterms, polls expected the republicans to sweep Congress and that young voters would not turn out. Young voters turned out in numbers not seen in decades for their demogrphic.
Also, those young voters aren't typically the ones being polled.
