Prayer does can help us hope. No, I don't think it's a magical wish granting line to God. I think it works because in that it buoys our thoughts and our heart. It opens us to hope. And, you never really know… There might be power in active hope. There's certainly nothing detrimental about centering yourself in hope and love for the benefit of others.
