Words I pray in struggle
My faith is simple and beyond any organized religion. It is Christ-centered. But, it’s not about proselytizing. If what I believe has value or appeal, it should not need the imposition of proselytizing. Neither does it preclude anyone else’s belief or non-belief.
God doesn’t need religion. Men create dogmas so they don’t have to rest in the expansive universe of creation beyond their command. It’s just my opinion: Mankind invented religion to constrain and contain the ineffable so they won’t need to have faith.
Faith is hard. It demands an evolution of the heart and soul. Whether you call it “God” or “the divine” or simply “universal love,” faith demands empathy beyond the self. For me, that is the God who is love.
Broadly, I believe our purpose in life is to be a living reflection of God who is love into this world for all beings, from every single person to every creature. I’m still only human and I fall short of that goal. But faith keeps me always striving toward evolving into an ever better reflection of my God who is love. And, that love is everywhere if we will only see it.
It’s not easy, especially in this world of struggle. We can more easily turn to anger and hate, it seems, than open our souls to love. In…
