Right. As always, the people who are really harmed by this are the poor and already marginalized. I was unable to buy books when I was growing up. But, the library was always there. And, the library was a safe space, as well as being a space my hyper-controlling fundamentalist parents trusted me to go on my own. The school library was a place to wait out the bullies after school. It was also a safe place to linger before the school bell rang.

These bans aren't about book content. They're about control and erasure of safety.
