See, that's the thing about advancing dementia. It takes years. He's been in decline a long time. They signs were likely there before he ever descended that escalator. But, as I detailed in the essay, it's been obvious to me since I noticed that leaning stance of his — it's called Lewy posture. Sometimes, it's angling forward; more often it's leaning left or right. It takes years to advance and leave the person walking hunched over.

As to his weight loss, that also could be part of his advancing senility. My Gran had no access to Ozempic or Munjauro; yet, she lost quite a bit of weight as her dementia advanced. It's like they're shrinking.

When it comes to campaigning, he never did it because he thought he had to. He does it because it's like oxygen to him. Trump craves the attention of the crowds.

Your points are not wrong. I just see them through the lens of having watched my Gran's twenty year decline from senile dementia. The first decade looked very much like what we've ween in Trump since 2015. Now — especially after the trauma of the assassination attempt — he's seeming at the point we were forced to put Gran in nursing home where she spent the last decade of her life. It needs only for Trump to fall and likely break a hip at this point — and that is something from which folks his age do not recover. That was the tipping point for Gran too.
