That's a lie. The book in that article I shared is about girls computer coding, as the title proclaims.
Yes, the books are still available somewhere. However, it is the intent which we're fighting, to prevent their success. Their intent is to completely ban books that challenge or refute their white-identity straight, Chrisitianish American neverwas.
The intent is to erase these books from existence by beginning with by forcing them out of libraries; then, they intend to move on to book stores. Plus, when books are forced out of libraries, a lot of folks, especially kids, will not have access to them because books are not free oustide of libraries. Everyone doesn't have ready cash to layout on buying books – and that's mostly children, but a lot of adults too.
When I was coming up, if I hadn't had access to libraries, I wouldn't have had books to read – because my mom had "views" too. My sisters were not readers and all three of them grew up to embrace the same fundamentalism of my parents. Reading made all the difference for me – reading taught me to think and to discern. That is precisely what these "parental rights" seek to prevent – they want to prevent kids like I was from learning more than the indoctrination of uquestioning white-identity American exceptionalism.
BTW, they're also taking away a crucial aspect of libraries that most folks probably don't think about. Libraries have always been safe spaces. In my troubled childhood, libraries were places I was allowed to linger… in which I could stay away from home where I wasn't always safe. Sure, eventually, I had to make my way home. But, that respite, surrounded by books… It was a haven for me.
I'm sorry, but the people doing this are a tiny minority of parents with children in school. The majority want their children taught to discern the truth rather than to have them indoctrinated into lies. What about their parental rights?
These folks are boycotting and leveling threats at book stores and publishers too – even textbook publishers. Florida rejected math books by claiming it CRT was being taught within the books – in math problems? https://www.politico.com/news/2022/05/05/fldoe-releases-math-textbook-reviews-00030503.
Some are going as far as holding organized book burnings, including church organized events. This is a leftwing publication, but they're not wrong on what we're experiencing here in the States: https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2022/08/20/ndrv-a20.html
Here's a WSJ article on a Tennessee lawmaker calling for book burnigns: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/04/27/tennessee-burning-banned-books/

At the moment, they may not have succeeded entirely in their intent. But, the intent and the will remain; they will not stop until they achieve erasure of titles they don't like – or, until we prevent them from doing so. If we don't speak out and stand against their intent, they will succeed. It might not be the strict definition of book banning as you laid out; but, the intent aims to that level of banning. As I said: It is the intent we're fighting, to prevent their success.
