That's actually pretty funny.

Our ostensibly shy guy was also a sly guy. At his funeral, we learned from his sister that he'd been putting one over on us all this time. Always coy about his birthdate, Jim, unbeknownst to his guests, had been throwing himself a birthday party in the guise of Patriots' Day.

That's actually pretty funny. It's also a great way to get folks together whom you want around you, but without them or you feeling obligated by birthday stuff.
