That's not precisely what Jesus said. He said that all who come do so through Him. Also, we are God's just as your child is yours. Your child is yours whether they accept you or not. Your child doesn't stop being yours becuase they don't believe your edicts or doctrines.

My study of the Bible finds no place in it where we are described as anything approaching adopted into God's kingdom. Rather, we are drawn closer to God, deeper into right relationship with Him – into a relationship that already exists, made better by drawing closer to God. It is more like the wayward child being loved and led to becoming a better person, led into that right relationship through love. "Adoptions" presume some existence outside the love of God, as an adopted child exists outside and beyond the knowlege of the family into which they will be adopted.

My study of the Bible tells me there is no existence in life outside the love of God.

I recommend you study the writings of biblical scholors on this for a deeper understanding – for example, Dr. Mickey Efird or Rev. Adam Hamilton. Dr. Efird, especially, devoted his life to the scholarship of scripture; he was the Professor Emeritus of the Duke Divinity School. His writings are available on Amazon.

In addition, the Bible itself tells us that Jesus is "God's Holy Word." (Matt 4:4, John 1:1-3, Luke 3:2, John 1:14, John 10:35, 1 Chronicles 17:3, 2 Chronicles 11:2, Rev 1:2) Even in the Old Testament, "the word" was not a book – it was a living and active thing/spirit/entitiy who came to the prophets. Throughout the OT, "the word" came to or spoke to the various prophets and heroes of the OT. Scripture is valuable to study and discernment; but, Jesus Himself is the Word, was always the Word, was always with God even in the beginning:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."

I will conclude with this: It is one thing to exchange differing perspectives – we may find deeper understanding and discernment through such exchanges.

But, you're telling me I am wrong and you are right – that you have the only truth that could be truth. Yes, you have offended me. Telling me that I do not have the truth of "God's Holy Word" because it disagrees with your own interpretaion is not merely presumptuous of you, it is unloving, unkind, and exclusionary. It says to me that you believe only your interpretation – only the doctrine you decided is "truth" – can be correct and all others are heretical and apostate. You are telling me that I am an apostate heretic for trying to live the way of Jesus.

I have no "vital issue that needs sorting out" except the exclusion of any person from God's love.
