That's so cool. My mother wasn't much of a cook and didn't take in any of the old family recipes. By the time I was interested in cooking, my Gran wasn't really cooking any longer and my great grandmother, Gramma Mary, had passed.

But, I remember the wonderful smells and tastes of my childhood in Gran's and Gramma Mary's kitchens. There was this recipe of Gramma Mary's that I would have loved to have. Sadly, it's lost. I don't recall ever seeing her use a recipe; but I was very young — she passed when I was eight. The recipe was for apple pecan praline pie.

I also wish I had my Gran's ham making and sausage making recipes. When I was small, she still raised pigs to make her own. I developed my own sausage recipe; but I don't know if it's as I remember hers. You know how it is… I always remember hers as the best ever.
