The GOP Have Become Idolators

They way the rightwing talks about Trump makes my brain hurt.

The rightwing conservatives aren’t even trying to be subtle anymore. Not only do they have a golden idol of Trump on display at their annual CPAC convention, their stage is the actual Odal rune of the Nazi SS! They’ve abandoned all pretense of American democracy. They have become the constructors of a simulacrum — their own post-reality.

According to Wikipedia, a “simulacrum(simulacra): Something that replaces reality with its representation… an image without the substance or qualities of the original. It is no longer a question of imitation, nor duplication, nor even parody.”

The event organizers claim it’s just a coincidental appearance of an odal rune. Personally however, and predicated on their long history of subterfugal use of white nationalist symbolism, I fully believe the shape of that stage was purposeful. They think we’re too stupid to see it. Or, more likely, they just don’t care if we see it any longer.
