The stats tell us that as many as two out of three events of sexual assault/abuse against girls and women goes unreported. It's estimated one out of every six women are sexually assaulted and one out of every thirty-three men. Those stats are extrapolated from the understanding of unreported assaults. I don't think people realize the numbers for men are that high. We still hear the old trope, "men can't be raped." In every sexual assault or harassment, no matter the gender or orientation, the victim is shamed and blamed; it always seems to turn to protecting the abuser.
