The thing I took most to heart from this passage was the deliberateness of Jesus' anger. He saw the corruption and understood the injustice inherent in what he saw. He knew it needed direct action that sent an undeniable message – that it is wrong and cannot be allowed to continue.

He took the time to braid a whip. Think about what that meant. Did Jesus walk around with cords of leather or cords of any other material he could use? No. He sought out the materials to fashion a whip. He sat and prepared those materials. He braded them into a whip. Then he set upon the money changers.

He saw a need. He planned. He turned his anger into action. Jesus organized his protest.
