The way you lay out how it happens is excellent. Sometimes, because it's family and the only environment you've ever known, you just cannot grasp there is something different… a better and more just way to relate with others. Sometimes, you just haven't experienced anything else so you believe what you know is normal for everyone.

And, when you learn better, breaking away from those bonds of childhood is never clean or complete. Even in pain, we're constantly drawn back into the sphere of that unchanged brokeness.
