There are actually things you can do to fix that. Talk to a flooring guy. But, I remember my grandfather fixed it in the old house on Sleepy Hollow (yes, that's the real street name) with shims for the planks that had give in them, and beeswax and some kind of powder (chalk, I think) for between the boards.
