There is a psychological component to dressing well. When we dress well, studies have shown that our mood and our perception of ourselves may be elevated. We can look ourselves in the mirror and say, "I look good today." It boosts our confidence.

Conversely, some of those same studies found that designer duds weren't necessary for this effect. Just clean, well turned out business casual or "church dressy" clothes made the difference.
