This is actually targeted to people who are compassionate and motivated to work for the great good, but have been made to believe "woke" is something different. They've been convinced by rightwing mal-information propaganda that "woke" is something bad. The purpose of my post is to show them that woke is all the things they already are.

I know the person who prompted this post as an inclusive and empathetic woman. She speaks out and upholds migrants, POC, the LGBTQ, the poor and homeless, women and children. She's been outraged by America's assault on women's right to choose and by our incapacity to do any damn thing at all about the mass shooting slaughter of our children on mind-numbing repeat. However, she has also, for several months now, been snarking at the concept of being "woke." I pointed out to her all the things for which she, as a lay minister, uses her voice and activism. And, then I said to her, "You are woke." It's for people like her that my post is intended.
