This one I think should stand as is. Bearing false witness is more than just lying. Phrasing it as "bearing false witness" is a deliberate and legalistic turn of phrase. It's claiming to have witnessed a crime or break with moral strictures by a person who is innnocent, but facing retribution or punishment for it. If you give false witness that convicts an innocent person, that is worse than simple lying. In fact, it's a crime.
