… led me straight to a photograph I took when we were restoring the former Mayor’s House in Chester. The builders had stripped off the plasterboard to reveal the reeds inside, a few of which still had intact flower heads. The morning sunlight fell onto them, for the first time since 1775. It was quite a moment!
