In an environment of increasing political partisanship, where political rhetoric of violence often fuels real-world violence, Huckabee’s allusion to Malcolm X’s metaphor, “ballot or bullet”, is reckless and dangerous. It is a disgusting misappropriation of a metaphor originally used to promote the securing of freedoms and liberties on behalf of Black people suffering torturous atrocities from a racist American government.
